Naomi Wadler and Emma Gonzalez are courageous change-makers.  Like Joan of Arc, they are young women who stand at the front of a movement and share their voices.  It takes immense amounts of bravery to speak about these issues on a public stage at any age, let alone while you are still in school.  Their voices are real, they speak the truth fearlessly and with powerful presence as true warrior girls.  Their message is incredibly relevant, young people should not have to be fearful to go to school everyday, they should not have to deal with the fear of gun violence while they are learning, or ever. Naomi and Emma have incredible strength to be able to stand on stage and use their voice to speak for youth and their message has been shared throughout the world.

Naomi and Emma personify President Obama’s quote, “Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time.  We are the ones we’ve been waiting for.”  In her speech, Naomi expressed, “People have said that I’m too young to have these thoughts of my own… my friends and I might still be 11, and we might still be in elementary school, but we know, we know that life isn’t equal for everyone, and we know what is right and wrong.”  She then shared a Toni Morrison quote, “If there is a book that you want to read but it hasn’t been written yet, you must be the one to write it.”  Through having the courage to share their intelligent and passionate voices, Naomi and Emma are catalysts for change that is incredibly necessary and relevant in the world.  They are true warrior girls.
